a touchdown is scored when a ball is advanced past the goal line and u can either throw or run to do this also if a player on the other team catches a ball its a interception and they can try to run to ther goal line and past it. when a person on either team has the ball in ther hands or has control of it and loses it is a fumble any player can pick it and try to score . touchdown is worth 6 points and u can try for 1 or 2 points after u score. when blockijng u should keep ur hands inside the shoulder pads or u will get called for holding. ther r 11 players on the field at a time . when playing wide out or wr and corner back u can push off of the player infront of u but only for five yards and if u push off any more u will get penlized . a football game consist of four 15 minute quaters and a half time when u tackle some one ther knee shen fore arm or when the whistle blows and when u tackle the quaterback behind the line that means u sacked him and they have to get a firstdown from ther u get 4 downs to try and get ten yards usally people only try 3 downs and punt the forth

Start on ESPN.com, foxsports.com, or nfl.com and just browse around. The best way to completely understand the game is to just watch it, it will take you a few games, but soon you'll understand the basics, and within a few weeks you can build on the basics and completely understand the game. I'd say the first step is to pick the team you want to follow the closest, learn basic information about the players and go from there :-)

Yeah - top idea. Not knowing the rules would place them well to be administrators too. Perhaps they could help advise Demetriopolous on some new rules ... Any touching and you're out for six weeks... oh no that's already the rule.

Check out your local Barnes and Nobel. There is a book on "Football for Dummies" (no kidding). I got it for a girlfriend several years ago after infinite attempts on explaining it to her. She read it and got hooked.
