I'm not going to comment on whether or not it was done correctly or not, but with babies...anything medical you are concerned about you need to talk to your doctor...it doesn't take much to throw their little bodies into crazy stuff...it's better to be safe than sorry...if you can't afford the bill to go see a doctor...try calling and asking them about it...they can at least tell you if it is normal or not...

My son was circumcised a couple months after because he was a preemie. But depending on doctors, some (like my son's doctor) prefer to leave some skin to allow for comfortable growth. Believe it or not, some doctor's take too much of the skin off to have some poor babies grow up and start experiencing painful erections( There is a surgery now out to reverse botched circumcisions on older patients). I was freaked the first time I saw my boo-boo's wee-wee all swollen and bruised!(Okay my son's 10 and I still talk all sappy...WOW!) If it has been a extreme period of time and he is experiencing reduced urination, leakage around the incision site, fever, and fussiness, hey get that baby to your doctor asap! Never fear you are being over cautious when it comes to your baby's health. Mother's instincts are usually on point. If that mean asking the same question 30 or 40 time to your doctor, do it until you are satisfied with the answer. That is what he/she is paid to do. Trust me your boo-boo's wee-wee (smile) is important! He might not thank you later, he'll sure will be glad you took those extra steps!

They didn't cut off enough foreskin when they put that little plastic cap on. The opening is still tight but should lossen up over time.
The reason it is purple is because it stays covered by the skin. If you keep it pushed back the the head will dry out somewhat and will turn pink.
Keep the skin pushed back behind the head if it will stay. Maybe you could keep it back with a bandaid until it will stay back on its own. May have to have a little more skin trimmed off.

I would take him to the doctor. My son didn't have the cap over his but what you are talking about it doesn't sound like he was even circumcised.
I personally don't think the Doctor did the circumcision right. Take him in and if they have to do it again, do it when he is little little that way he will not remember it.
Good Luck and Congrats on you little boy.

Take him in to see his doctor - NOW. That happened to my son and he had developed a small infection. They will seperate the skin away from the head and clean it. Then YOU need to keep triple antibiotic on his penis for a couple of weeks to make sure it does not grow back together (and yes, you will need to pull the skin down to put on the ointment).

it is normal for some skin to cover the head, the head would be completely covered had the circumcision not been done. if it is purple i would take him to be checked at the doctor. but im sure he is just fine.

There are several ways of doing circumscisions, and putting a bell shaped cap over the top is one, they cut around the cap. So that part was normal, but if you have any questions or concerns beyond that, I wouldn't be here with us, immediately call his pediatrician and take him in. That's not an area you want to mess around with!

Circumcision was not necessary..... but since it's done, take him back to the doctors..... and DO NOT pull the skin back anymore until the doctor looks at it!!! He probably has an infection....

If there is was still skin then there was no circumcision. Circumcision is when you remove the skin around the head.

If you are unsure or concerned you should take him to see your family doctor. The circumsision may have to be re-done. It's better to take care of it while he's still a newborn.
