, maybe and
). You should also around this time start introducing CSS. I definately recommend keeping the course standards-centric. This would mean not introducing depreciated tags except as a 'historic' reference to the way it used to be done and emphasising closing of tags. This will keep the code you get looking clean, and will be more useful long term for your students.
If you have time, after going through those, you can even branch out into XML.

Well, go to a site that offer a free hosting and choose a template
for example- yahoo Geocities or bravenet.com
Follow with attention the instructions and construct your first page
After the begining of the school you can ask the collaboration of your pupils. This work can be fascinating and more creative
In time if you want to know more you could try to attend a web design course There are a lot on the web.
Another idea
Try a program called Microsoft office Front Page (it is a member of office family it is posible to have it )
Working with him it is very similar to working in Word
Try a program named Page breeze
http://www.pagebreeze.com/
It is very simple but it is visual and intuitive
Download a program named
style master
Download the program from
http://www.westciv.com/westciv/downloads.html
Search in the directory where the programm is installed
Open the folder named help and after the folder named template
Choose a template that you like and use it in the terms and condition specified by the company (for non-commercial use)
Complete the page with your data.
Or you can run the program normally( it is a demo) and choose a template
Good luck
I'm sure that you will made a great work
If you have a problam please contact me

I'd say two things. Learning web design is part learning code (or equivalent code editor such as Dreamweaver)... these days, I'd go to the editor. A copy of Dreamweaver is a few hundred bucks, but worth owning. The other thing is that you have to get a handle of web graphics. You need a copy of photoshop or imageready... from these, with their basic tutorials, you can learn the fundamentals of web design. It will take a while, depending on your exact degree of previous copmputer knowledge, but working from these three programs is the best way to start: photoshop, imageready, dreamweaver.
And use you MAC. It's always better for graphics because it has a feature called color cyncing, so that the colors of the image print and transfer to web with greater accuracy.

In general a website consists of one or more documents(pages) connected together by links.
Creating a website can be easy. However, creating a visually appealing one can be time consuming, like any medium, ie a tv commercial, a song.. etc.
If you want a better understanding of how web design works, start at http://www.w3schools.com/ and look over the 'HTML' tutorial. HTML is used to format text and give structure to a web page.
If you want to skip the in depth understanding of HTML there are several HTML editors out there...
http://www.snapfiles.com/reviews/DHE_Editor/dheeditor.html
is free...

Right-click on the web page and View Source....
See the tags in <> brackets...? That's HTML. I learned by looking at how others did what I wanted to do, and was writing pages in 1 day.
