a 9 month old should still be on breast milk or formula, as well as baby rice, and either store bought or homemade baby foods. It is best to start with vegetables when feeding a baby, so they develope a taste for that instead of the fruit which has natural sugars. and remember to stay with the same food for at least a few days incase any allergies.. if you start with carrotts.. stay on carrotts for like 3 or 4 days.. before you go to strained peas.. etc..

Give your baby Gerber baby foods or you can make your own baby food in a food processer.
My son is 10 months old and he eats just about everything from baby food to some table foods.
He will get mashed potatos, pudding, very small pieces of meat like smallter than a finger.
But any baby foods is good just make sure he isnt allergic.

You can continue to give the baby canned baby foods like gerber but around this age, a baby can also digest some table food like mashed potatoes and french fries. You can try it out and see if the baby will eat it, if so they continue to try other things also like applesauce and oatmeal.

The Man - that should only be fed to babies named Sam...

Seriously, anything mashed up or soluable. It must be easy to eat and not pose a choking hazard. Watch for allergies. You want to continue to avoid; peanut products (3 years recommended), berries, raw honey (2 years) until at least 12 months. We kept shellfish away from our son until he was 2 because of a known allergy in the family.

Small dices of vegetables/fruit like carrots (soft),peas, pears, peaches, bananas. Cheerios, Kix.

At Toys R Us or a local store may sell baby feeders. It is a mesh netting with a handle on it that you can put in pieces of bananas or graham crackers and they can suck on it without choking. It was the best thing ever. It keeps them occupied.

Good luck

you could ask your babies doctor. or you could read the package that the food comes in because it says on the back what age should be eating it.
