Okay, just to be different...there's only one ocean that goes around most of the planet!! We just give different parts of it different names.

The reality is that it's not an easily answered question...as it depends how one defines an ocean. There are four major oceans...the Atlantic, Pacific, Indian, and Arctic. The Antarctic Ocean is usually labeled as such on maps but there are no landmasses to separate it from the other oceans. So is it really a separate ocean? (I say, yes, because that's how maps have been drawn for a long time.) To go further, when I was a kid, we were told there were seven oceans...that's because the Pacific and Atlantic were further divided into North and South.

So there you have, a seeming easy question but with a complicated answer.
