I have been hearing about some ultra right wing nut bags that are protesting at the funerals of our slain soliders. Is it their right to disrupt the funeral services of these brave soliders or are they just disturbing the peace and basically making fools of themselves?

It crosses the line between acceptable behavior to being disrespectful. Funerals are meant to be a private affair, whether military or otherwise. I support the Patriot Guard Riders and am a member. Sign up below.

They will only attend if invited by the family (as it should be) and are there to, first and foremost, show their sincere respect for our fallen heroes, their families, and their communities.

Their secondary mission is to shield the mourning family and friends from interruptions created by any protestor or group of protestors.

There is a time and place for everything, including protesting. A funeral is neither the time or the place.

You should go research that guy's family. It's basaically a group of dis-barred lawyers all in the same family that do this. They are the GodHatesfags website. They do a lot of horrible things. In my state, they have been restricted in their protest ability at funerals. These people are horrible. They are the ones who protested Ryan White's funeral, because he died of AIDS, that he contracted through a blood transfusion. See 'the LAramie Project' and 'Angels in America" for a better understanding.

slipknotmetal, they are right wing. You keep 'em, we don't want them. People don't seem to understand that it has nothing to do with the war. They think that god is killing our soldiers for defending a country that has openly gay citizens, so therefore, they think that we are fighting the war for gay rights. I'm totally serious

in accordance to US regulation if a team of people carry mutually in public, no longer on their very own inner maximum land, they are required to conform with all lifelike regulations. that incorporates getting a enable to hold mutually and demonstrate. There additionally ought to be a reason and to do this at a private funeral is many times no longer a solid reason. this is as much as the Cemetary, although to implement this. They cemetary could have the interior of reach police do away with absolutely everyone who has no genuine corporation being their, inclusive of traveling a grave of a chum or kin member. In any journey the cemetary could have absolutely everyone bumped off for breaking the peace and serenety of the section. The Phelps prolonged kin is going to ultimately face courtroom action, which way issues will do is hard to declare.

this is a horrendous mis use of free speech and if we could use say a gun with skunk oil in it to spray protesters then maybe they would not bother these families .
I feel bad behavior of this sort requires a simple solution and a good dose of skunk is what they need .
these people have no sense at all and need to be stoped in some manner besides an asault on our freedoms .ONCE we begin to ban free speech we tread dangerous ground .HOW about a court of public justice bring them down town on satuday to a public park and have the crwd vote yea or nea to a public stockading which incudes rotten tomatoes and other items that would cause no injury to the people being corrected.

First, they are not right wing...and the right does not condone them anymore than most others do....I think that your question is right on both counts....which is why the Supreme court stated they could continue to protest it....but gave them a time period, and something like 1000ft from the funeral.....nobdy claims him...he si from Topeka, and they refuse to claim him....The only people that have praised him has been Soros and a few Air America personalities

It is sickening. It goes beyond free speech and what the US values. As Americans, we pride ourselves on our freedom. However, fanatics have hijacked the concept of freedom in a sickening and apalling manner by protesting at the funerals of our slain soldiers.

It is immoral, unjust, and just plain sad that such fanatics are protesting with signs such as "Thank God for IED's." Each and every one of the should have their teeth knocked out.

I think we should keep free speech in tact but those idiots are just disrespectful. What could possess someone to come to a funeral and interrupt a mourning family's closure is beyond me. I think they are selfish, disillusioned, uncaring a$$holes who should be taught a lesson. Regardless of whether or not you believe the war is in vain, you need to keep your nose out of the soldier's funerals!

They're just being extremely insensitive. I understand why they think that the war in Iraq is wrong, but show a little compassion towards the family. Also, it's a friggin' funeral, show some respect.

Yes is the answer. Those protesters really really really really make me angry. But they do have a right to protest...despite what I think about their message. The solution is to move them back away from the funeral....and let them protest down the road.
