It's based on the Stephen King book of the same name (the title is actually Pet Sematary). A family moves to a new house on a busy road and the cat gets hit and dies. They bury it in the local pet cemetery and it comes back to life, but not quite the same. It's now an evil cat. The son then dies and they bury him in the cemetery, he then comes back, but he's evil as well. Then, mayhem ensues.
It's a standard 2 star horror flick. I didn't find it anything too special, but to each his own!! : )

This is based on the Stephen King book. Basically, a family moves to a new town and there is a cemetery where people have been burying their pets for many years-- and the pets come back, but not with the same disposition as before. Despite being warned to stay away from the cemetery by the man who lives across the road from them (played by Fred Gwynn from "The Munsters" fame), the family buries their cat there with unfortunate results. Also, out of desperation, the father ends up burying his young son there. More unfortunate results-- when he came back, he was eerie and evil! The ending is slightly different in the movie than the book, but both are good, in my opinion.
(Don't waste your time on the sequel, though. Not good at all!)

Pet Cemetery is a palce you can bury your pets. In the book, behind the pet cemetery ((Beyond it's borders)) was an old Indian burial ground where the land had grown "sour". Anything buried there would come back to life, but would come back changed and evil.

Here's the short and skinny...
A family (mom, dad, kid) have a cat. They have a new house. Up in the woods they find a graveyard where pets are burried. The cat gets hit by a truck. The dad burries him up there. He comes back, but really mean and scary. Blah Blah Blah. The kid dies, the parents take him up there and burry him. He comes back and is evil. Pretty scary

There is a scene from Pet Cematary that haunts me to this day.. Mr. Creed is digging up his dead son, Gage.. and he gets this creepy, insane smile on his face as he looks up .. and then he goes back to digging..
It's a movie about a Cematary.. where you can take dead (people or animals ) and they will come back to life.. but in the way of Stephen King.. they come back bad... murderous and crazy.
It's one of the best scary movies I have EVER seen.. and it's banned in Germany.
