The raising of minimum wage is a scarey thing. If it's raised, what guarantees are there that employers won't simply cut their staff by one or more employees to pay the remaining ones more? How long before someone making $10.00 an hour gets a raise to cover the inflation brought on by the raising of the minimum wage? They're talking about raising it to $7.25 an hour. So what do those now making $7.25 get? More than likely they won't get a raise until the company they work for rasies it's prices and starts making more which is what causes inflation.
Raising the minumum wage shouldn't be something the governement does, people should make more money based on their abilities, not on a decree from the government.
Yet what to do if the companies themselves won't pay their employees more, who's to help those making $6.00 or less an hour? Gas sure isn't going to lower in price, we all know that.
So after considering it and looking at many things how can you say any party has flip flopped? There's a lot more that goes along with raising the minimum wage than simply raising the wage, there's the effects of everything and everyone else to consider.

I think that has to do with the pressure that is being put on the gvt by Americans who are saying that illegal immigration is rampant because Americans will not work for $6.50/hr.
So the solution? Not close the borders or reinforce! No! Let's raise minimum wage to keep 'em quiet for a bit... Meanwhile, Americans will STILL not be picking our strawberries, but the illegal immigrants will make more $$ and STILL not really paying taxes (the proper way!)
Yeah, I've heard the argument that they pay taxes. THINK about it... All the taxes withheld (if any) from their pay is put into a POOL that no one will have access to. GVT does not know what to do with that$$. And since they're using bogus SSN's... ARGH!
So, let our schools go to sh**, close our hospitals, but raise the minimum wage! GREAT IDEA!
After all, this IS an election year!
Boneheads!

Not all Republicans are Conservative. I do not support a minimum wage, I don't feel it is the place of government to say how much a company's employees should be paid. If an employee feels that he is under-paid then he should seek employment elsewhere.

As a conservative (not a republican, more a libertarian) I'd say the republicans would vote to dye capitol hill blue if they thought it would save their congressional majority this year (but it probably won't)
