.....whatever is, is right.

It could have two essential meanings:

(1) "Whatever is, is right" - everything is pre-ordained and therefore whatever exists at any time was meant to be. This perspective is held by some western religions.

(2) "Whatever is, is right" - reality is the ultimate arbiter of right and wrong. Pre-ordination is not required but the outcome, whatever it may be is just. This sort of thought is found in some eastern philosophies.

I tend to think the flaw is in the question itself: "right" and "wrong" are human concepts. The universe does not acknowledge any outcome, much less one being superior to another. The universe simply "is". Suggesting that reality and virtue are linked (beyond the concept of virtue existing in the minds of humans) is unsound.

From an evolutionary viewpoint, if something has passed the test of competition, whether that something might be a biological entity, like an individual, or a psychological entity, like a meme; it deserves its own right to existence.

I think it means that whatever happens is right, because it is part of God's great plan...even if His plan may seem a little warped at times.

It would mean that because something exists, or has happened- that itself validates its existance or occurance.
I would have to disagree with this point of view, though, comfortable as it is, it seems to imply that nothing is wrong with the world. True, things Could be much worse- it could also be better :p.

Whatever really exist cannot be argued with. I take the "is" as an existenial verb, and "right" to mean what is real.

Your own opinions determine the "rightness" of your actions.

It is akin to "Right you are if you think you are".

But it does not address the validity of the content.

Hitler thought he was "right" in how he dealt with the Jews. He was totally wrong, but, in his mind, this was the best way to go.

It's like "this is the best of all possible worlds".
It is a cop out to do nothing and lay back watching things happen.

Don't meddle in other peoples business. You don't have to feel the need to fix everything -- leave things as you found them. If it exsists then thats the way it's supposed to be.

well, if it isn't, then it doesn't exist, and therefore it's wrong.

but if it is, and it's wrong, then that sucks and you shouldn't leave it alone--you should try to fix it.

"be the change you wish to see" is a much better quote.
