I also have an olympus camera and I have to hold the the shutter button half way down focus the picture then push it the rest of the way down it works very well also try the macro option. I recently took some pics of my kids on some amusement park rides while in motion they all came out great

It depends on whether you're going to take the pictures in indoor or outdoor. If you're going to take the pictures outdoor during a good day, you can use any P&S cameras with Tv or Av with ISO control. If it is indoor, most arenas are not well lit. You will need a DSLR with a fast (large aperture) lens. For example, Canon XTi (400D) with EF 85mm f/1.8 or EF 135mm f/2 L. You probably want to set the custom white balance and dial +1 exposure compensation due to the white ice. Depends on how fast your subjects move, you will need about 1/250s shutter speed to get a sharp image. I would use at least ISO 400.

does your camera have a sports options?...I have a C643 and it has a motion option..where if someone is moving it can take still pics of that person. Just look at the features...or look in the manual or something
