I like to think that ranting about gays and abortion are a last ditch effort by Christianity to save a belief system that's outdated and no longer applicable to human life.
But then I wake up..

I'm a Christian and don't rant about gays. I have several gay friends. Homosexuality is considered a sin but so is lying. According to the Bible there isn't a heirarchy for which sins are 'better sins' or 'worse sins'. A sin is a sin. Jesus had dinner with the tax collector and defended a prostitute. If we are to follow his example then we love everyone, but hate their sin (Christian and non Christian alike).
I think those who rant have their own personal issues to resolve or are very new believers who don't yet understand the full message of Christ.

You must realise that almost everyone who is deeply religious has a very narrow minded view of the world. This is because they believe that what their particular religion says is the only truth as it came from God, or from prophets who God spoke to, and therefore there is no room for argument or compromise. How can one argue against the will of God? Not just christians are homophobic, so are muslims and I'm sure many other religions too. They would tell you that it is because it is written in the Bible or the Koran that homosexuality is sinful, but my personal belief is that as homosexuals are unlikely to breed and produce more good little worshippers the real reason is actually more practical, but many are so brainwashed by their religion that it's true values of tolerance go straight out of the window in the prescence of "abominations and perversity"

You sound like you're ranting right now. Generalizing based on a visible subgroup within all of Chritianity. What I'm curious about is whether you would consider it possible for a Christian to say that homosexuality is wrong in any tone that you wouldn't consider a rant.

Christians are supposed to love and care about the welfare of the complete person, mind, body and SPIRIT. A gay lifestyle is wrong and sinful according to both the Old and New Testaments of the Bible. So a gay lifestyle is harmful to the spirit of a person. Christians would be failing in their duty if they disregarded those things which are harmful to the spirit and which could ultimately separate a person from God for eternity. To disregard the spiritual welfare of a person is not proper love. Those who condone and approve of a gay lifestyle obviously do not care about the spiritual welfare of gays and may ultimately help to condemn them to hell.
Who could call that loving or caring?

I know its weird that they rant when their leader hung around with 12 men, no women and they all wore long dresses. Sounds more like the first church of jesus the cross dresser to me

I have cousins that I love dearly, but I get on their cases when I hear about them drinking and driving... why? because they are being irresponsible with their own lives...
God gave us ALL rules to live by and when we live by them, life is fairly smooth...(after all we have the choice to obey the rules or not....) and while we love gay people we CAN NOT condone their lifestyle choices, just as the average person CAN NOT condone their loved ones choice to drink and drive...(drinking and driving is illegal in the natural and homosexuality is illegal in the spiritual...)

Are you trying to start a war here?! LOL! But really, I get so annoyed when people think it's ok to pass judgement and say that it's against God's wishes. How can they say God didn't want love...no matter WHO they choose to love. I know that the bible said Thou shalt not judge...

It's hard to express the hatred of the sin while still expressing their support of the person, but any true Christian would make the effort.
