well if they have any chance at the wild card...they need a miracle and they need to hold on to soriano. After they ripped off the reds by getting kearns, and lopez their line-up suddenly looks very good. when guillen returns they could, if they keep soriano, have a line-up that looks like this----- soriano leading off, vidro, zimmy, johnson, kearns, guillen, lopez, and schneider......thats a very very solid line-up if all those pieces remain in DC. Their pitching has savy veterans who while they suck...could pitch well for the final 2 months....livan hernandez (their only good pitcher)...ramon ortiz....tony armas...and hopefully jon rauch..plus a good closer in cordero and a solid set-up guy in ayala and they certainly aren't finished but sorry I don't think they can do it despite these new-found players....they'd have to become buyers in the trading game...and thus add a solid starting pitcher like a loaiza, or a kris benson or someone who could fill a spot for 2 months and maybe pitch well enough for them to contend.

Well, they're only 8 games out of it, but there are a whole bunch of teams inbetween them and the Reds. It's a lot tougher to make up that ground when there are teams between you and the team you're chasing.
Doesn't help that they're the 6th worst hitting team in baseball and have the fourth worst ERA in the NL.

Their pitching is horrible. Similar teams will have a tough time staying on top in the Wild Card race because of a dearth of pitching. Soriano is likely on the move, as well.

They have as good a shot at making the playoffs as the Atlanta Braves...
0 to none.

Nope cause Soriano is gonna be gone soon and you'll fall apart after that.

I'm a season ticket holder and I say no. Because they will be trading away their talent this weekend.
