Wear a beautiful handmade Kimono to their senior prom with all the bells and whistles? Or is that lame?

No, I am not a High School Girl but I am thinking of making Kimono and marketing them for that reason as a business. GOod idea? Or will I go broke?

Saw your question, obviously not a HS girl.
I was in Asia a bit. There are some beautiful Asian dresses, not Kimonos that are hot and classy enough for a prom dress in my opinion. They are form fitting and require a good body for it to be pulled off.

It's very unique, I think it would be great.
However, high school girls still tend to follow like sheep. See how many on here are obsessed with Abercrombie?? You may have one in each school with the individuality to wear something like that, but it's a big risk to take for a very fickle population.
You might market them towards Japanese-Americans, they wear them in weddings and may treasure a handmade one that doesn't cost thousands of dollars as does one from Japan.

I would do it ina heart beat!
Im in college now and actually wore a Kimono to one of hte formal dances.

My friend wore that and she looked so pretty!!!! Do it cause no one else is gonna pull that off, i guarantee it! And wear your hair in the Japanese bun and if you can, pull off the paper parasol (umbrella) with it and some flat wooden flip-flops (Walmart, $2) Do that look and you'll be looking like a beautiful cherry blossom!!

honestly do what you feel is best. who cares about what others think. if you are Japanese then go for it. plus its SENIOR prom. you wont see those people again because its the last year. i am a male and I think that would be fine. graduated 01

I wouldnt do it for a buisness. Very rare high schoolers would go for that. There may be a few exepctions, but most of us wouldnt never go for that....I wouldnt start a buisness with that in mind....
