I read in the New York Times where Las Vegas has a law going into effect on Friday that if anybody gets caught feeding homeless people in the park they will be fined $1000 or I think it is 6 months or a year in jail. I want to know what is the worlds opinion on this I think it is a shame because they are worried about the beauty of their towns.

They are doing the same thing here in some towns in South Florida. I think it is terrible.

If the cities are going to continue to ignore the scope of the problem, then why not let kind, humanitarian people to help them?

What's next, no feeding the birds in the park? No feeding the fish in the pond?

Give me a freakin' break... these are human beings.

Those city officials should spend less time at Krispy Kreme & Starbucks, and more time dealing with the homeless and hungry.

It's not that you can't feed the people. Read the whole issue. You simply can't feed them in the public parks. There are tons and tons of resources for the homeless in Vegas...including shelters to get away from the heat and free food venues.

The homeless were congregating and creating problems in the parks where people were feeding them. The homeless had been accosting the people and people using the parks were feeling very threatened and unsafe because of the environment that had been created.

You can still help the homeless, you just can't do it in the parks, or within a certain number of feet from public entrances, I think.

Seems like normal "miscommunication". The "class" of people to "partake" lunch and not wanting to see or be interrupted during their dinning complain of being "hounded" by "beggar's" to their friends on city council. Hence, the rule. How bout a rule; "Don't bother the homeless and hungry"? If there's that much of a problem with homeless and hungry in the parks, another unenforceable law is not solving the problem, just making it worst. Define the "problem" correctly or have the picnic tables taken out of the parks! Simple, right?

i really think this is so wrong. we had a town that wanted to make it illegal to sell to, rent to, or hire an illegal alien. to make English the legal language. i believe if you want to come to my country you should obey my country's laws. i have to everyday. i love my country so i try to obey each and every law. i don't have the solution but i know that my fore fathers were native here. we as generations have past are native here also. we are the melting pot of the world. we don't mind you coming here to improve your life. we just want them to obey our laws regarding immigration. please we are not saying don't come, just obey our laws. and most of us speak English so if you want to communicate with us learn our language. if i went overseas to live i would learn because you must be able to communicate. thank you for the opportunity to express my opinion by asking this question. anyone feel the way i do? what are your thoughts on this?
