Pictures, Pictures, Pictures. The one thing I did with my second is lots of belly pictures. I wish I would have done that with my first. Those pictures are so special. I loved being pregnant and now that they are 10 and 8 I can go back and look at the pictures. There are alot of photographers that love to do belly pictures and will work with you on lost of different poses. You can do the belly cast and that is really cool as well. Just remember one of these days your children will be grown and you will not be having anymore and you will miss truly miss being pregnant and then you can get those pictures out and embrace that. Although you will also want to get your hubby in some of those pictures if possible.

I don't know how far along you are, but you could have a friend that can take good pics (some people really don't know how...) to make progressive pictures of just your belly, progression of the nursery (if there is a progression/change), etc. This would be great for a collage on the wall if done tastefully. You could edit the pics to look antique, b/w, or other colors.
Also, Bebe has a device that you can record the heartbeat on (yours and the baby's) for later use when the baby is born. It is supposed to be soothing.
A journal is also fun, something to write in directed at the baby about what you are feeling right then, fun memories of the pregnancy as it's happening, how you came up with the name, and just daily thoughts for the baby. This will be useful when the baby is born (read to the baby as a book) and in the future for a fun memento.

Take a picture of your belly(yourself from the side in a mirror) every day/three days/week, a certain time frame that will show it progressing. Put the pictures into a flip photo album and "watch" your baby grow after he/she is born! It will also be fun to send your husband that is not there to see it.

I like the belly cast idea that's really neat. You could start scrapebooking, knitting, crocheting, and looking around at craft stores for other ideas? I used to paint ceramics and they have some cute ceramic things you can paint for a nursery. That might be an idea, I think the ceramic paint is safe while pregnant but i'd check with your doc or the craft store.

A memory book for the baby -- pictures of his family at this time, newspaper clippings of what is going on in the world, journal - to document what you (and other family members) were thinking and feeling while you were anticipating the birth (or even a tape), etc - create memories for him/her.

Ideal means perfect, or best circumstance. Good ideas, on the other hand, would be to join some parenting classes.

learn how to knit or crochet. then you can make baby sweaters, socks or other things.

Go to a craft store and look for something called knifty knitter. it is a loom and soo easy to use, and with it you make things that looks like they have been knitted. I have one, and I have made tons of things with it.

Have fun!

Make a quilt to hang on the baby's wall and later they can use it as a blanket when they are older.

I did a lot of cross-stitching. I made birth announcements ahead of time.
