Laptops are a LOT more fragile than desktops. They are moved around, shuffled around, and things get broken on them much easier than a desktop.

If you are planning to use it with a docking station, and never move it, then no, I'd not worry about the extra coverage. However, if you plan to move it around, take it places, etc, then yes, I'd get it.

It may or may not be useful. What does the warranty cover, under what circumstances? Are some things only covered for a specific amount out of the 3 years? What are their repair terms? Replacement terms? Who pays for what? The large print givith, the fine print taketh away.

Warranties on high priced electronics is a good thing. I know it sounds like alot of money, but its worth it. Just make sure you know excactly what is covered. They probably will not cover damage caused by the customer or virus problems.
