I read recently that coffee enemas are the new 'thing' in certain parts of the world. Apparently it is supposed to clear our your rear end thoroughly..and probably means that breaking wind isn't entirely unpleasant for other people too.

I have 2 questions about this:
1) What is it that makes coffee enemas better than water enemas?
2)how did they found out that coffee enemas are so good? Is there some guy in a lab trying out different juices, colas, lagers up his butt before finally discovering that coffee hits the spot?? Does this mean that expresso or cappuchino will have different effects??

(ok thats 3 questions)

Enemas can't possibly be part of natures requirements.

The Coffee stimulates the Portal Vein entering the liver to freely dump toxins from the blood into the liver where the liver rids the body of them through the bowels and kidneys. Coffee enemas are helpful during Chemo for the reasons stated above. ETA...Below posters are correct TO A POINT...there is no Magic Cure for Cancer (correct) and the Coffee itself will NOT REACH the Portal Vein,(also correct) but the Coffee WILL Stimulate the Portal Vein via the Blood Stream...allowing for dumping of said Toxins.(I believe this is What you were asking)

Your liver. That is the answer for coffee enemas. When you eat food it gets absorbed by your intestines through your hepatic portal vein. That vein goes directly to your liver not your general blood stream and its contents are metabolized. If you drink caffeine it gets diluted with stomach acids, rendered useless by enzymes and absorbed into your general blood stream; ie caffeine high. You by pass this by way of rectum/colon. Undiluted caffeine goes directly to your liver which stimulate the release of bile and sends your liver into overdrive for metabolizing everything in your body; fat and toxins alike. Some caffeine also goes directly to your blood stream but not as much as drinking. It also cleans your colon. Volumes more but that's the jist.

I really don't think it is fibre. They just do it to be weird. I am sure you would get a big caffeine high because that is where your blood soaks up vitamins and drugs - is from your colon. And it would have not passed through your stomach. I would say it would be bad for your colon. Herbal tea would be much more beneficial.

And yes people spend time sticking things up there butt.

I think coffee acts as a laxative, at least it does every morning when I drink a cup. As for who discovered it and how? I would probably leave that a mystery.

Possibly that coffee beans are good at removing odors.
I have some soap that has coffee beans in it.
You can rub coffee beans in your hand to get rid of odor.
Maybe that's it... just guessing

I don't understand. Are you supposed to stick coffee up your butt??? Ouch, and grossss. I prefer to just drink a cup of coffee in the morning, it sends me right to the restroom.

Because... coffee beans are still beans. Beans=fiber. Drinking coffee is like drinking liquid fiber. So its gotta be somewhere in that category. Good luck.
