Hi Brian,

I wrote a lot when I was younger, too and I really liked it. To be honest I started by memorizing songs I liked and then re-writing the lyrics from memory. Then I would add pictures or doodles or whatever, but the most important thing was keeping what I wrote. Sometimes the words wouldn't be exactly right, but they were what I heard.

Anyway, then I started writing my own lyrics to songs I already liked. Like re-writing songs - you can start by just finding different words that fit then pretty soon you'll be redoing the whole song (kind of like the parodies Wierd Al does)

You might try writing down free form poetry too, it doesn't really work as music lyrics, but it helps get ideas down.

It also helps, if you want to write songs, to learn at least a little, to play an instrument, piano or guitar are easiest to write songs to. Some of the best songs ever written just have 3 chords. You can play a rhythm of simple chords over & over until you start feeling words that go along, then start putting the words together.

The most important thing is to keep trying, your first songs won't be your best, but if you're like me they may end up being some of your favorites - good luck!

Find things that could inspire you, read a lot, become an observer of everything around you. You'll find a lot of things to write lyrics about. Don't just focus on surface things either, try and see the emotion that lies behind every ocurrance that you observe. Hope that makes sense. Good luck!

First you have to decide what you want to right about. Then you just write it. It can be a poem. Then you decide how you want it to go - like what music what rhythm. Then you start to sing your poem. It's kind of easy one you connect to it. I write lyrics myself and poetry. You just have to know how to be deep. Right about actual things.

Good luck =) hope I could help

Just practice writing , and make sure, you keep in the same time frame, dont go from past tense , to current tense to future tense.

Best of luck , just dont give up.
