I'd say most of the teams that have been in the same city since the early days of baseball:
The Yankees - 26 Championships. Mantle, Ruth, Gehrig, Maris, and all the history
The Red Sox - The franchise that struggled through most of the last century dealing with the biggest heartbreaks. Williams, Yazskremski, Fisk, Lynn.
The Pirates - Very much an up & down team through the ages. Team grew with the city and struggled similarly.
The White Sox & Cubs - Lots of baseball history in the windy city, from the Black sox scandal. The curse of the billy goat. Players like Banks, Sandberg.
I'd say the team with the most interesting history of the above is the Yankees, and I'm a Red Sox fan. I just think that the players who have gone through NY have really made their mark in history. Dimaggio's Streak, Gehrig's tragedy, Mantle & Maris' excitement, Babe Ruth's dominance.
Just my opinion

It's got to be the Cubs. What few realize is that the Chicago National League Ballclub (formerly the Orphans & White Stockings among other nicknames), DOMINATED the National League for most of their first 70 years from 1876-1945. It's only the last 60 that have been a little more difficult. With players such as Al Spalding (who later founded the Spalding Sporting Goods Company), Stan Hack, Mordecei "Three Fingers" Brown, the double play combo of Tinkers to Evers to Chance, the history is a lot richer than just bricks, Ivy ,and sunshine..

I'm not a Yankees fan, but I'd still have to pick them as my choice.
First off, they've had more great players and personalities than any other team. They've been managed by Hall of Famers like John Mcgraw (when they were the Orioles), Clark Griffith, Miller Huggins, Casey Stengel and Joe McCarthy, and the great players are just too numerous to mention.
What I also find interesting about the Yankees is that their drought times are as interesting as the championship years. Looking at the teams they fielded in the pre-Ruth years, the late 60s, and most of the 80s, it's interesting to see what they were trying to do to win and how it didn't work.
The Yankees have also had their share of eccentric owners, which I think adds to their allure. Steinbrenner is a character, but I don't think he can compare to Jacob Ruppert or the crazily-named Tillinghast L'Hommedieu Huston. Reading about the Ruppert-Huston days always make me laugh - not because they didn't do a great job of winning, but because of the things they said and did.
I also find the history of the Yankees interesting because I like to see how they've had so much success over the last century, and to see how they've built so many different dynasties or sustained long periods of success. They went almost seamlessly from Ruth to Gehrig to Dimaggio, and they've had an incredible group come through town even in the past ten years.
Again, I'm not a New York fan, but I think any baseball fan has to find interesting the history of the Yankees franchise.

I would tend to think either the Cubs or the Red Sox.
Both teams have the great historic ballparks, and rabid fans who support them no matter what.
The Sox had the early Babe Ruth period, and then the curse that just went on and on. They had so many great players and terrific teams but just could never quite get to the "Holy Grail" till 2004.
The Cubs would probably be my second choice for Wrigkley Field and all the day games, the Bleacher Bums, and the Billy Goat curse, let alone the infamous Bartman and Dusty baker burning out a great, young Mark Prior.. Great players (well, some) great fans, and so many losing seasons.

The New York Yankees, hands down. They have the most interesting, or at least successful history in all of sports. Consider the legends that have played for them. Incredible. The names alone are overwhelming, and the means they used to acquire those names are in some cases incredible (see: Ruth). They have one of the most interesting, historic stadium and fans of other teams hate the management for doing what it takes to win.

the yankees have had so much talent over its long lifetime that they probably have way more than any other team, but each fan older has their moments and younger fans may say the seattle mariners with Mr. Griffey Jr. so to each his own, I love the Indians but their history is not all that interesting, and the reds with pete rose and marge shot kinda bad history there too..lol

I would say the A's. A team that has moved around three times. They were a winner in Philly and the owner sold them. Ok in KC and went to Oakland and won championships.
