From an "old geezer at 62"......

I think what Al Gore is doing right now is the most important "job" he - or anyone else - could be doing for the sake of this planet's future.

It's time to wake up to reality and recognize what damage we've inflicted on our planet in just these past 150 years since the start of our industrial revolution. While many of us 'pooh-pooh' the theories that global warming, the ozone layer, and the environment of our Earth, are significant threats to our global community, people like Gore have committed themselves to educating the public and attempting to do something about it.

I'm assuming you're a 60-year-old man; I'll also assume you might have a couple of absolutely gorgeous grandchildren of whom you're inordinately proud. So let's look at this issue through your grandchildren's eyes:

If people like Al Gore don't take on the "real job" of protecting and preserving the delicate ecological balance between man, plants, and all other animals on Earth, who will? You?

Or will you simply continue to squander all of Earth's resources under the assumption that they are so plentiful, the Earth will NEVER run out of things like fresh water, clean air, oil, coal, ore, wood, farm land, and all species of plants and animals (including homosapiens)?

True, global warming and other environmental factors are cyclical. But WE have certainly contributed to speeding up that cycle because of our disregard for the sanctity of our land, air, water, and natural resources.

Whether Al Gore is a liberal or conservative is inconsequential (and I'll also assume you despise him simply because he's a 'commie liberal'). The environment is not a political issue - it's a global issue that must be addressed or your grandchildren will never live to enjoy the kind of lifestyle you yourself enjoy today.

If we continue letting our factories and our vehicle emissions pollute the air and water, your grandchildren might very well be forced to wear gas masks when they're your age - just to be able breathe!

If we continue to drill for oil in our oceans just so we can drive around in $60,000 gas-guzzling SUVs, there will be no more sea life that will be ble to mate - and that means your grandkids might not even be able to enjoy a simple tuna casserole.

If we asphalt over all the rich farm land in the world, farmers will not be able to grow crops. And, contrary to most Americans' concept that food comes from a supermarket, if farmers can't grow crops, there's no food, and your grandchildren will starve to death!

If we allow the polar ice caps to melt away, cities on both coasts of both major oceans will be flooded, will be subjected to severe hurricanes and other natural disasters, and many millions of people will die.

If we squander all the oil, coal, wood, and ore just because we are too damned lazy to REturn, REuse, and REcycle our paper, plastic, styrofoam, wood, used cooking grease, oil, newsprint, cardboard, steel, tin cans, glass, asphalt, and all other items that aren't biodegradable, Earth will eventually run out of all these precious commodities. And your beautiful grandchildren will not live the kind of luxurious life we've enjoyed.

Even if all that doesn't happen, why does it not make sense to protect and preserve our natural resources. Would you give me all your money and allow me to squander it without regard as to how you might need it for household expenses, retirement, or for a college fund for your grandkids?

Please, sir....what Al Gore is doing is important work - work that we ALL should support and involve ourselves in.

Godspeed. -RKO-

As our real elected president, he would have one if it hadn't been stolen from him by that moronic imbecile Bush and his equally crooked brother, the governor of Florida. God help America that fools like those two are allowed to govern a state and the country. And I use the word "govern" loosely.

Why? He's currently trying to help society as a whole, and making plenty of money making speeches. It doesn't matter if you agree with him or not. If you had millions, would you go and work "real" job? I sure as hell know I wouldn't.
