Heard about this trade on ESPN.com. I think it's a good trade for both trades.

are you talking about carlos lee, cliff lee, or derek lee? Since carlos lee seems to be the only guy I can see being traded out of those three I'll assume you mean carlos. This would be an excellent trade for the brewers, and the rangers. The brewers would get a relatively young outfielder in mench (I think he's 28 or 29), and a guy in francisco cordero, who without a doubt has had his own issues attemtping to close, but would provide a back-up plan if turnbow doesn't recover from his recent shellings----I think he will be fine, but just in case. With cordero and kolb as set-up guys....thats some serious mental make-up because both have been closers, plus they have flamethrower jose capellan, and a decent middle reliever in matt wise. The rangers would just add another huge bat, and would simply not resign lee after his contract expires...but would get a very good bat to pad mark and hank in the line-up. The rangers are simply renting an excellent hitter, and eventually saving money that would be wasted on a 4-5 year contract on mench---who would be better served and will have better stats on another team where he isn't as ignored, and his talents can be exploited. The brewers don't need to resign mench either when his contract is up if they don't want to because they have decent young outfielders who could man the spots for 1-2 years until some stud comes along. corey hart has talent...I love Anthony Gwynn although people say he can't hit---I disagree, and they have cruz, a power hitting, yet 25 year old old prospect. This trade makes sense for both sides.

I don't know if that's derek Lee or Carlos Lee, but either way it seems lopsided. Mench and Nix aren't consistent, and Cordero is a shadow of the pitcher he was when he was juicing.

OK, that was what I answered a half hour ago, and now I'm eating humble pie because I just saw that it is CARLOS LEE and that it DID happen.

I didn't realize that carlos was at the end of his contract at the end of this year, so that makes this a little more understandable. This should be a big help to the Rangers, who have a lot of hitters, but needed that big bat in the middle of the line-up. The Brewers...well, I guess they got something for the future, but I really thought they'd have a shot if they continued to build the team around Carlos Lee. I had hoped they'd show a commitment to winning in the future. but I don't think Shrek Mench and Laynce "Bass" Nix will be the guys to get them there.

The Rangers are taking a very large risk to get to the top of the weak AL West. What they really needed was pitching, but since there isn't much to be had they did this. Lee is a free agent after this year so they're essentially "renting" him for the year which leads me to believe they could have gotten more, especially when Mench isn't that far behind Lee in stats.

Time will only tell

Carlos Lee to Rangers for Francisco Cordero, Kevin Mench, and Laynce Nix, there has to be prospects and cash in there somewhere, it makes sense to me. Mil wants a backup closer after Turnbow has gotten torched, and good outfield compensation for Lee. Rangers want another bat after losing Soriano, Dellucci, and ARod over past cuple yrs, and have solid closer in Otsuka.

I think Cordero and Mench were movable, and Lee will make a pretty great 3-4-5 with Blalock and Teixeira. If they can sign him long-term, then it's a pretty formidable group.

I think its good for both teams.

With Lee in that lineup with Teixara (I know I spelled that wrong) and Blalock, that could be one of the best 3,4,5 spots of any lineup.

For Milwaukee, I think they got some really good talent with Cordero and Mench.

i think its a terrible trade. i have been a brewer fan all my life, this team has not been to the post season since 1982 , hasn't contended for a division crown since 1992 and since 1992, last year was the first they were .500 or better. even with the Selig's gone and new ownership here, this team has no commitment in winning. its been 24 years since their last world series appearance and the way this team is ran it will be another 24 before it happens again. good luck Carlos, you will be greatly missed in Milwaukee.

Don't know why Brewers would do it. They have two young OFs in their system ready for the majors and they give away their best hitter for guys that aren't worth starting. Bad trade for Brewers, good for Rangers, especially if they can resign him at the end of the year.

Brewers just made a HUGE mistake. They should have gotten much more for Lee. They don't have a huge payroll and should have let get geoff jenkins and billy hall before giving up Lee.
