Look at the headers. If it is through yahoo email, there is a link to view the headers at the bottom of each email.

that's not a real simple question to answer... lots more info is needed.

Here's the spectrum of possibilities based on the computer savvy of the person who is harassing you:

1)If the person has only beginning or average computer savvy, then you should be able to look at the email headers (based on your email client, there are ways of checking all of the hidden information which shows where the email came from and all other additional info). Once you see the headers, you'll be able to look at what email server sent the email to you, and also, most importantly, the Original Client that sent the email.... The Original Client would be the IP address of the person who sent you the email.

2)On the other end of the spectrum, if the person is very computer savvy, or a complete cracker (generally known as hackers), then it will be practically impossible to find out where the email originally came from. The reason for this is that there are programs out there that complete hide away the IP address of a computer so that something called Hubs are used to mask the original IP address. A great program for completely hiding your IP address is called GhostSurf. Check out the info on it and you will see the capabilities other users might have to use against you.

Well unfortunately you can't...but what you can do is report this harassment to the police as well as the email provider of the sender...send them all the evidence and ask them to take action...more often than not the email provider will surely do so...and once you have the identity of the person, you can drag them into court by filing harassment charges...BUT, it might be that the person in question might be overseas...so in that case its pure luck if you can get help from the email provider.

Also, look at FBI's web-site and see what it says about such kinda harassment...its sometime referred to as cyber-stalking.

Hope this helps and good luck!
