You clearly do not ( much like our current president) understand Islamic fundamentalists. Hezbollah is not a group you can wipe out just by dropping a bomb on an area - anymore than you could get rid of white supremacists by bombing Montana. ( Which would make as much sense as what is going on since thousands of innocent civilians and law-abiding men, momen, and children would be killed. People who have no control over who has chosen to move into their community.)
Hezbollah groups exist throughout the world and are a recognized part of many Mideast communities. They will always exist. I would suspect - much like the insurgents in Iraq - that this current war with Israel will create even more converts to the Hezbollah faction and will in fact strengthen and increase their numbers. The longer the fighting goes on - the worse it will get. A diplomatic solution is the only recourse - and even then we know the fighting will someday resume - as it has for centuries in that area.

I fear this is as good as they are going to be...

even taking a village has been difficult, costly in terms of IDF lives. Although a significant portion of Hezbollah infrastructure has been destroyed they can still fire 100s of rockets (new ones too) into Israel.

If the US rein in Israel for a ceasfire soon... Hezbollah will be the victor - the new hero still standing in the eyes of the muslim world. The much vaunted might of Israel now already wobbling will be shattered forever... by a ragtag army of civilian fighters with less sophisticated weaponry than Israel.

Probably unlikely. Hezbollah is spread out across many countries, has strong idealogy and uses guerilla tactics. You can't knock it out with just war. Much needs to be done in terms of diplomacy and politics.

The problem is that direct conflict, especially the way Israel is doing it, only makes the terrorists stronger. The harder they fight the terrorists and the more civilians they kill, the more people grow to hate Israel and the more terrorists are "born" (i.e. people lose everything in an Israeli air strike and so have nothing to lose in fighting Israel)

You cannot fight an ideology with guns and missles.
