I'm a summertime bank teller and I make $10/hr with no benefits, except 401K (oddly enough). A full time teller would make ~$20,000 a year on this wage plus full benefits, such as vacation, maybe health insurance, etc. Being a teller, in my opinion, is not a career-type job. It is, however, a very good stepping stone into banking. Most people in upper-management at the bank I work for (a smaller, regional bank) were at one time a bank teller.

It all depends on what bank and your experience. I have a friend who was working for Bank of the Americas, making $7 p/h. It was her first job and she worked there for two years. Now she is with LaSalle Bank, started making $9 p/h. Whithin a year, she is now making $10.50 p/h.
