Just to put your mind at ease; Andrea Yates will NEVER be discharged from the state hospital she is in. It is a maximum security hospital for the criminally insane. We're talking like, Hannibal Lector here! She will be confronted by a board of psychiatrists, diagnosed with delusional psychosis and paranoid schizophrenia, and will spend the next several months on enough medication to make her catatonic, and she'll spend the rest of her "life" that way. Unless they want to let the other asylum patients drive her there! So, no worries! Personally? I would have chose the death sentence!

Its like u said. She got a fate much worse than death. To be fair though any woman who would drown her four children in the name of god would definitly get my vote as being Criminally Insane.

C'mon She's insane...she didn know what she was doin at that time...but yeah lettin her go back home start makin sum new babies and the same story come up is sumthin they should think about...it was not 16-year-old Sylvia Marie Likens case that got killed by that witch Mr Wright, Gertrude Baniszewski.
then she got outta prison after 10 years and lived her life till she died from lung cancer and the verdict was fr***** unfair but however Yates iz crazy and needs a very xpensive therapy.

I think her husband and the entire religious right should be on trial. This woman had post-partem depression through 4 pregnancies. She should have been allowed, or made, to stop at one kid. The RR, however wants people to keep having babies for Jesus. That is where the crime is.

YES!!! i am so angry!!! what she did is inexcusable and she should suffer 10 times more than what those little innocent children suffered.
She should be tortured and killed slowly!!! people like her deserve nothing more.
Her husband should feel guilty for the rest of his life....if she is as SICK as they say she is...she should not have been left with all of those children ALONE!!! PSYCHO *****!!!

I honestly think, she deserved the death penalty, how could she kill her defenseless children. As a mother myself, it breaks my heart, to wonder how much these babies suffered. She needs to rot in hell, she doesn't deserve any excuses for what she did. Insane my ***! Insane or not insane, she doesn't deserve to live. I hope her crazy consious haunts her throughout her lifetime.

No...although it's hard to not get angry...I force myself to not get angry over these things anymore.
Anger is what made her do it in the first place...if we get angry...we're no different from her.
I'd say more that I'm more disappointed and bemused by the whole thing.

i don't think she was crazy.. maybe overwhelmed with the number of kids she had to deal with on her own. But if she's not crazy she will be after she take those pills.. (one who flew over the cuckoos nest)
