I am planning on VBAC for this baby and am due in Sept, just wondering if anyone has found a useful website the gives good details for different types of birthing positions. Not wanting to do the traditional hospital position on the back and want to walk and move around during labor and let gravity help me this time around.

You know what? I had my first child via cesarean and decided that my second child was going to be vbac. I just got scared at the last minute, and told them that I wanted to get cut again. Easiest way is the best way in my book. Good luck,

If you are planning on a VBAC unfortunately you are going to have to be monitored a little more closely then if it was your second vaginal birth. You will probably have continuous fetal monitoring and may limit your choices of birthing positions.

I have seen VBACs gone terribly wrong (but more successful, I'm sorry I am not trying to discourage VBAC) but you need to think more about what is best for your baby rather then your position.

VBAC = High risk pregnancy

I am so happy that you are considering alternate positions for the your baby's birth. Hopefully, in conjunction with your doctor, you will find one that is appropriate for you and your baby's safety and comfort. I, personally do not feel that the traditional position "on back, legs in stirrups" is natural and certainly not comfortable. I would think on your knees would be one of the best positions. Also, I have heard that giving birth in tepid water is also a wonderful change. I know of three women who swear by it. (one gave birth in her hot tub with the jets pulsing gently on her back and legs) She said it was heaven! Baby was birthed right into fluid and the process was no where near harsh. Good luck to you.
