Not much good for a bike used on the road. Might keep some of the roadmuck off but that should n't stop you washing and waxing regularly.

There's always the original purpose of the design to consider= a professional MX Racer got tired of hitting objects that broke the 'tranny-case' so often!

you better leave it on there... i took mine off and one day i tried to put it on a porch out of a cloudburst and the case hit on a step as the front wheel was on the porch....oil leak! cost 600 to have it fixed...when i got it back they installed another belly pan and now i have an extra and a better understanding about a belly pan...
or...you could listen to "PEANUT BRAIN"
I DON'T wonder why they call him that.

It's for aerodynamics, to slice through the air preventing wind drag and to direct air to the engine and exhaust to cool them.

A bellypan is required if you blow your motor, it collects all the oil and metal grenade fragments and keeps it from getting on the track,,,er street.
