I agree. I didn't breast feed my first child because I was very young. Now with my second child I wanted to breastfeed but had to pump everything because she was preemie and needed a high calorie formula. So I pumped all my breast milk and mixed her formula with my breastmilk instead of mixing it with water. For those that think its gross, they are entitled to their opinion but are in NO place to judge those that breastfeed just like those that breastfeed are in NO place to judge those that choose not to breastfeed.

I don't know what's wrong with some women. Breastfeeding is natural. Isn't that the reason we have breast in the first place? I hear the child comes out healthier and smarter when they are breastfed. So, people need to forget what other's say and do what's best for their baby. No, I would eat in the bathroom that's nasty so I wouldn't feed my baby there either.

In the old days women were brought up to think it was wrong to breast feed, and they have passed that belief down to their children. I had a conversation with my grandma recently about it, she doesn't want me to breast feed because breast milk is not a "uniform" food, meaning the baby would not get the same amount of nutrients each feeding. But yes breast feeding is the best for your baby, and should be the preferred method of feeding for your baby.

I don't think breastfeeding is gross. When I had my first child the nurse tried to get me to breast feed but I refuse because I was only 15 and I though it was embarrassing so I never tried. Now I am 21 and expecting my second child I want to experience breastfeeding with my child.

Ok, some women can't handle the stress of trying to breast feed and go back to school or work. Personally it is a women's choice if she wants to breastfeed, and now a days formula is just as good as breast milk. I don't believe that it is right for you to judge a women's choice just because you think that its wrong. and please don't bring the whole religious aspect into this, not unless you are going to take into consideration all forms. And by the way there is a spell check on this thing.

Breast feeding is not only good, it's ESSENTIAL for the first couple of weeks. That's when a good number of immunological factors are transferred to the child. If you go to the bottle right away, you're just ensuring that your children are going to have MORE illness all their lives. Anyone who thinks that making sure children are healthy is "gross" needs to do some serious thinking.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I personally have never breastfed, and I wont. But I don't find it nasty. Its a way God gave us to feed our children and give them the nutrition that they need. However, I do believe that breastfeeding should be done with respect. Yes, if you dont agree with it or dont like it, dont look at it. But if you're breastfeeding you need to give some kind of courtesy to others, and not just plop a tit out in the middle of a grocery store. Im not saying disappear to the bathroom, but do it descretely. I have seen many women breastfeeding in places where I wouldnt have even known if I hadnt looked closer.

I don't get it either. I think it's mostly a lack of education and also that they are told that formula is the same, which is not (read your formula cans). Plus they don't walk, they run to their wic office to beg for free formula and they can easily separate from their babies after carrying them for 9 mos. I can go on and on but I'm cooking..will come back later
Wait, before I go, I'm sure they don't think it's disgusting having their men suck on them right? Betcha that's totally ok
Sorry daimy..formula is not as good as breastmilk..like i said earlier, read the cans of formula, they even say breastfeeding is the best nutrition..no matter how much junk they put into formula it's not the same and it never will be. I had to go back to work with all my children and that is not a reason not to continue breastfeeding unless you just plain old don't want to, then that will be your own issues and it's sad that you don't want the best for your baby.

I can't believe women are so selfish like that. It doesn't bother me when women don't breastfeed because their baby doesn't take to it, but some women are just completely against it and I think that is extremely selfish. I can't believe anyone would give it up or not even try just because its gross to them---so what, it's the best for their baby and they don't even care. Too bad for all those kids who are going to grow up with allergies, ear aches, colds, weak immune systems, and who knows what else just because their mother hated the idea of breastfeeding.

I couldn't agree more. Nothing aggravates me more than people who are ignorant about breastfeeding. But I'll bet most of the people on here who think it's gross are either immature teenagers or just ignorant people who think of breasts as sexual objects. Breastfeeding is the most beautiful, healthful thing you can do for your baby. Using the word "gross" to describe it is what's really gross in my opinion.
