I am a black female who thinks that we have no control over who we fall in love with. There is no law that says we should stick to "our own kind", just ignorant people. The thing is to make sure whoever you date loves you for who you are and not what you are or what you have.

Perhaps,but don't get too comfortable and always try to be thoroughly aware of where you are. Many of those old sentiments die slowly in the deep south.That being said, though, Birmingham is a fine city.

Geez...way to PC! Yes a black man can have a white girlfriend, and a black woman can have a white boyfriend too! Amazing how hard that was.

yes you can but like the rest of the south you may get a lot of stares and comments. I am a white woman who moved to the south from the midwest and started dating black men and had a lot of confrontation from others but i did my thing! Good luck!

If you two are really in love all the racism in the world will not stop you. Alabama still does not condone black and white so deal with it or think about coming up north.

Stop worrying about what other people think and enjoy your life. There will always be racists and prejudice people out there but if you let them get to you, you will live a life that is completely miserable. You like this woman and she likes you...be together and screw what others think.

if you want. you better be able to run, though. from what i hear alabama is still, pretty much the "old south." and if you look around just on answers.yahoo, you will find plenty of middle-aged white men who want to know why their daughters like black men. i think that race shouldn't be an issue anymore. apparently, though, it still is. good luck.
