It seems that at that point we should legalize the drugs and allow all athletes to use them. Would it be any different than eating an energy bar or pounding a protein drink? If there were a drug that made the human species more intelligent, would we claim that its use was unfair?

It isn't about safety, it is about the competition. The point of sports is to pit man against man, not steroid-man against steroid-man. I mean, yes, they're still on the same playing field but it sort of defeats the purpose. If you want monsters and robots to compete, just play a video game.

somebody will always find it unfair if they think they're getting left behind...

...it's funny that all of these substances are produced in the body, but adding extra if you're is cheating. In other areas of life extra is good...

Yes, the argument against them aren't that they are unsafe, it is that they are a form of cheating

they are still consider cheating so there will always be a n arguement
