system of a down songa are good but weird. slipknot songs hav a meaning.

me and all of my friends pretty much hate everything by system of a down past their "toxicity" album. not only because their new stuff its extremely political but we all play instruments and system has some of the easiest lines we have ever seen, they are extemely simple. dont get me wrong they have talent their music is just noise, the drummer uses too much snare and vocals are ridiculous. (just our opinion, theres 10 people here answering this Q) slipknot on the other hand is insane. they have some of the most intricate lines we have seen. not to mention the fact that they have 9 people in the band, all but one playing instruments and keeping perfect timing (we've all been to a concert and are musicians) alot of poeple probly dont like SK because "theyre satanic" or "anti-christian" no, go to their site and read their bio, the majority of them are christian. im not sure if this answered your question. but i think people just like SoD because theyre 'music' is easy to play, and their lyrics are almost nothing but EXTREMELY political (or random junk, like the tapeworm song) and most have no ground at all, theyre just accusations. they just dont appreciate the talent it takes to run a band with 9 people who are completely different from each other. not to mention timing combined with 3 solos at once. did i mention that joey (SK drummer) is rates as one of the best metal drummers in the world? watch their disaterpiece dvd and watch his solo... wow.

Slipknot uses 9 people to make music...I know bands that just use 4 members to create the music Slipknot makes...often better sounding too. SOAD, no contest. Already becoming an influence on some new bands today...their lyrics at times may sound silly, but it takes thought to understand what is really being said. The use of middle-eastern guitars separate themselves from the others like Limp Bizkit.

it is surprising to see that someone has never heard of system of a down or better yet slipknot. i like both bands. i like the older system records better, because they were a lot less wierd. both bands songs have a meaning. system is very political, so maybe that's why you don't get some of the songs. but you are right they have some wierd songs such as Violent pornography. back to the question i think people like system of a down better because slipknot is old. i'm not saying anything bad about slipknot personally, but tons of kids today don't like anything old. where i live kids don't like nirvana, pearl jam, and there are some kids that don't like slipknot. I think you might find that SOAD's songs have far more meaning that Slipknot's. System's songs have great political weight behind them with stories of repressionm corruption and religion. Slipknot sing about things that teenage kids think about.

I love them both...although System Of A Down are more fun to watch live...for Slipknot you have to avoid the Moshpit at all costs!

i don't like either. But... when I was in high school, a friend of mine and I were walking in downtown Memphis, when we happened upon a Slipknot concert in a little theatre... (or was it Coal Chamber?) anyway.. so we walked in, and there was so much smoke and nastiness in there we couldn't even see the stage. Once we did..... all those guys in masks, yelling and screaming.. who could really understand the words of their songs.. Anyway, it scared the hell outta me. I STILL have nightmares.. and that was 7 years ago!

I agree with you. I enjoy system of a down and they are a great live band, but their songs are pretty pointless and, to be brutally honest, fairly gimmicky. Slipknot have real talent and it shows.

because people are ugly gremilins who try get attension from creating havoc .but back down when it comes saying theese things to slipknots faces
