these are two different types of muslims-sadam is a sunni and was control of the bath party. shites were a majority of iraq and still are, we took down sadam and put shites in control of iraq. sunis are now outraged because they lost there political power and are now the insurgents you see on television every night. we have made the middle east a more dangerous place becasue now the shites control iraq, iran, and syria. sadam had control of iraq and put iran in check, sadam was a brutless dictator but with sadam out of power, iran has gotten more and more poweful in the middle east as well as syria. the war in iraq has endagered our security and i hope whoever is elected will clean up bush's mess, i know the democrats can do it. conservatives you are now educated.

I think a lot of them are pretending not to.

You often hear neo-cons go on about Hizbollah and Al Qaeda in the same breath.

Al Qaeda is a Sunni extremist organisation and has deliberately killed hundreds of innocent Shias in Iraq and Pakistan. Hizbollah on the other hand is an entirely Shia group and have no connection whatever with Al Qaeda, and neither does Iran - a Shia state.

Hamas again are a Sunni group but have links with Hizbollah and have criticised Al Qaeda's statements about Palestine.

Syria is a largely Sunni country but the government is largely socialistic and not religious at all. Bashar Assad's father ordered massacres of over 10,000 of Sunni civilians in Syria in his time in power as punishment for an Islamic insurgency. The government can hardly be described as Islamic.

Iran's government is Shia fundamentalist and again has an ideology that Hamas, Syria and Al Qaeda don't share.

These groups and states have nothing in common other than mutual opposition to American and Israeli policies. Neo-cons know that (certainly Condi Rice does) but pretend not to for convenience and to present it as a simple fight of good America against evil Islam.

Oh thank you wise david c, for the lesson in geopolitics... If you could ever learn how to spell, wise david c of the many diplomas and widespread education, we might be inclined to listen to your rambles. It's Shiite, and Sunni... but explain to me what a "brutless" dictator is - does that mean he didn't have any cologne? Are you making racist assumptions that Sunnis are stinky? And I would be worried about a "poweful" enemy... and I know that a conscientious liberal with high self-esteem from your long educational career, that you are worried about "endagered" security...

How would the Middle East be safer - with a democrat twiddling his or her thumbs while waiting for the polling data to come in? Oh that would be nice, Israel would be a parking lot for Syria and Iran by now... oh david c, you had too much sugar in your morning cereal, and I'm afraid that those day care helpers might have to put you in the "sad chair" in the corner for a while today...

I agree... but at the same time... Saddam would have used nukes if he had them... just like iran has threatened isreal, after all i think that the most peaceful approach, would be starting to withdraw the troops a bit quicker... job done go home... the void of power change in iraq needs to happen soon! Or we all will reap... and i just want peace, like many people i may have too suffer because of bush/blair/un, actions!

It's not right... i do not follow a particular faith, but have to put up with all there stupid wars... and could possibly die in a terrorist attack... even though i prefer the peaceful route!

It's all wrong... why do I have to put up with Churches or Mosques at war with each other, or any other religion!

Or why do i have to put up with the nonsense, that the political people drag up to have a war... Ridiculous... I do not want war i want peace! But I may die because some idiot in a suit or with a supposed peaceful religious background can't get on...

Absolutely Ridiculous!

Peace Now!

"the war in iraq has endagered our security and i hope whoever is elected will clean up bush's mess, i know the democrats can do it."

Pantload!...The Dems are just as bad, probably even worse. They've become left-wing extremeists that cater to the wacco nutjob muslim extremeists. The whole lot of them need to go and we need to start over.

And Syria is a Sunni country that supports the Shiite group Hezbullah. In the end it boils down to Muslims banding up againts "crusaders and zionists" (i think that is the prefered phrase among muslims).
