Hehehe... ok, youve got two basic approaches that have been presented here, in the previous answers....
If you are looking for a walkway with the same 'typical' stone exposed all along it... then get the "exposed aggregate" type of concrete.... pour it into your form, (with the appropriate expansion strips, of course), and after the concrete dries, then give it a wash with muriatic acid. This will eat away at the cement, leaving the rock exposed. Follow the instructions, carefully, on the muriatic acid.
Most of these exposed pebble type walkways are using a relatively small stone, usually round, which may be creek gravel, pea gravel, etc. Ive seen some that used other types of stone.
If you want to make a particular pattern with the stones, then you will need to take the much slower approach of actually pressing the stones into the wet concrete.
Have Fun!

Pouring a concrete walkway is pretty complicated if you want to do it right. To get the pebbles in, once you get the concrete poured, you put the pebbles on top and press them into the concrete.

It's call exposed aggregate. You spray it with muratic acid and spray it off with water which washes away some of the concrete and leaves the rock. You need to order a exposed aggregate mix for this. It is a special blend of concrete that most ready-mix plants can supply. It is kind of tricky to know when to spray it. If you spray it when it is to wet you will wash to much concrete out and if you spray it to late (after the concrete has set up) the pebbles won't show through.

Build a form, pour the concreted sufficiently soft to be able to press the rocks into it. After pouring, place the rocks in the pattern you wish and press them securely into the mixture. When it dries, you will have your pebbled walkway.

You need to get some forms 24"x24" in which to pour the cement. They are metal trays about 2-3" deep. Line the trays with thick paper, like shopping bags...pour a layer of pebbles over that and then the cement ontop. When it hardens...turn trays upside down and peel off paper. There's your walkway stone...!!

I have with quite good results. I put in about 100 feet of path with one in my old house. Don't make the concrete too watery or they will run together and yes, you'll want to give them a few minutes to firm up after you put the concrete in. It doesn't take very long. You'll also want to finish them off a little with a trowel to smooth the edges and rough spots after you lift the mold. It's some work, but you should like the results.

What you do is you lay the cement like you usualy would. Then you just scatter the pebbles into the cement before it dries, make sure the pebbles are far enough in for your liking and let it dry.
Have fun. Oh and if you have kids let them help it can be fun. BYe
