Why do people think Andrea Yates got off?

Question

She will spend the rest of her life in an insane asylum.

If, she is ever found to be sane, she will be recharged with the crimes.

So, either way she will spend the rest of her life behind bars of one form or another.

So why all the anger? why do people think she got away with something?

She probably won't spend the rest of her life in the mental hospital. However, I think that post partum depression is real, and I hope she can get the help she needs to deal with what she did.

She definitely was not mentally competent and there really is no one to blame and that makes some people angry. They want there to be one person to blame but there is'nt one simple answer.
Some are mad at Rusty for not realizing how sick she was but I don't think that that is fair.
Diseases that involve the brain are the most misunderstood in all of medicine. The person who isn't thinking clearly can't be expected to diagnose themselves and the people around don't know what to look for. Even if they do see something where are they going to go?
It is difficult to get good help for mental problems. There are quacks and even the best psychologists can miss things.
She was getting medical care and if I were going to go after anybody for not preventing this I would go after the medical people who failed to have her committed b/4 the incident.
I don't think you can blame the doctors or the husband or the minister or the woman with a brain that was malfunctioning.

She is where she needs to be. A place that will tend to her basic needs and help her exist. Somewhere in her mixed up mind she knows what she did. She has all kinds of twisted thinking that made her think she was 'saving' them. There is part of her too crazy to be accountable and the other part that will miss them for the rest of her life and probably feel guilty.
If is unlikely that they will ever get her sane enough to stand trial but she probably feels remorse on some level and that is more Conscience than the robber baron's at EXXON and other monopolies have.

Because people have forgotten the facts besides the one where she killed her children. She had depression after every child and did try to get help. No one took her seriously. After the last birth her hubby decided his mother should drop in once in awhile to check in on Andrea. What a guy, he is the one who should be punished. This woman did everything she could to get someone to help her and when she finally snaps people want her locked up for life. I feel sorry for her.

because people want to blame everything under the sun accpet for the real reasons people do what they do...everyone wants to "fix" another person. Why can't people just accept that there are EVIL people out there and they do EVIL things. This lady should ROT in hell for what she did. The real devil is her. Not in her kids....Those poor kids never even had a chance to live. And her stupid *** husband left her at home with them day after day? He is just as guilty if not more. You know he had to have seen signs that she was going to do something and he just packed his lunch and went to work? Society is so f'ed up.

Life in a mental hospital is too good for her. She will be treated too well. (There are no insane asylums anymore.)

She is a truly, foul, malicious, black-hearted individual. She may be mentally ill, but there's more to it than that. She's lucid in interviews and on the televised court coverage... depression can cause many problems, but it doesn't cause you to drown all your children. Granted, I don't know her case in and out, but this is my opinion.

I hope she rots in Hell.

my heart goes out to this dear woman. i watched her on CBS at 10pm last night, and clearly the poor woman was insane. they even (husband& mother in law) knew that she was not to be left alone with the kids. i think the father should be charged with child neglect. why did they take her off of those crazy pills? why the husband make her go to the dvil people church? i mean the preacher had a devil mask on. this lady was insane and i feel the husband just push her over the edge. she gave up her soul to ensure that all 5 of her kids go to heaven. you ask me, that is beyound love, for she was not thinking of the now, but the after life when God comes to place sin in hell. i dont agree with what she did, but it had to be written in the good Lord book, for it to come to pass. God wanted those kids to come back home and so it just happened sadly that way. nevertheless her kids are in Heaven and not hell.

Who is angry. I think the whole thing is a terrible tragedy. There is no doubt that poor woman has serious mental troubles. If there is anyone to be mad at it should be her husband who never sought to get her help.
