Unfortunately this is part of menopause and is caused by changing hormone levels. ( Been there done that.) It is scary at first - but the loss is not as noticeable as you think. My hairdresser of 9 years did not notice the change anywhere as much as I did. I imagined it was much worse. This goes on for a year or two - then stops and most of the hair will regrow. If you are otherwise healthy and it is not coming out in big clumps - I wouldn't worry about it too much. There is a product called Rogaine for women that you can try if you truly feel like the thinning is noticeable.

I just wanted to add a little to what arkiemom posted. If it becomes bad enough that you do decide to use Rogaine, talk to a doctor about using the men's formula. The only difference between the me's and women's version is the amount of the active ingredient. It's been a while since I used Rogaine, but if I remember right the women's form has 1.5% of the active ingredient while the men's has 5% and a doctor can prescride it as high as 15%

Just use quality hair care products and be gentle on it. Thats all you can do. It can be hereditary or just caused from stress. Good Luck and congrats on 50!
