Is your door an exterior door --- one leading to the outside? Or is your door an "interior office" door, one that is inside the building?
If your sign isn't working, then the next time a solicitor comes to the door, ask them to wait while you make up an invoice. Tell them that because they choose to ignore the sign, you will listen to their sales pitch at the rate of $35.00 per hour. And that you have a three hour minimum. Then ask them, "Do you agree with those rates?" If they are stunned or say, "No," then open the door for them and say, "Have a nice day, Irving."

Because that's the only way that they're gonna get a sale. These salespeople are desperate and barging into your office just might lead to a sale. To them, a "no soliciting" sign is like a speed limit sign or a stop sign. It's there to be ignored.

Because we are trying to earn a living. Which is much better than sitting in an office for 8-9 hours a day for $20-$30,000 a year.
Besides, prostitutes solicit. I am NOT a prostitute.

A good number of people are either small time and don't think they are soliciting, or they work for a bigger company and just don't care.

because they don't pay attention, and the really slimball sales people choose to ignore it. Put a bigger sign out or put like 5 of them out so that they get the point.

It seems as if our society now is one that does not care about manners, politeness or etiquette. Most people are in such a hurry to satisfy their self they don't take time to consider other people.

Because you are not tough on those that do interrupt you. You need to be tougher, because you are not tough now they don't respect the sign. Instead of being afraid to interrupt you when they see that sign, they just laugh and think to themselves. "Ha what will this person do to me"

Maybe because solicitors don't know how to read! Think about this... the only job they can get is walking around trying to sell stuff that nobody wants!!!

You don't make it in sales , unless you have the "kajones" to ignore signs and roll over receptionist. In short, being rude is in your job description.
