get an anti-spyware/adware program that check to see if any are imbedded into your computer.
Two great programs are spybot search & destroy http://www.safer-networking.org/
and Lavasoft ad-aware http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/

get a popup blocker

check yo pop up blocker if its on or run a quick adware scan
