You can start by cleaning your kitchen or where the source of food may be. Use a good cleaning product for this job. After you finished with that then spray a bug and ant killer around the affected area. Use the non-smelling new products that's in the market. At least it won't smell the whole house up.
Next buy Ortho- Ant B Gon Dust or what I like is the large bag of Ortho- Ant and bug pellets (last you the whole summer) and sprinkle the pellets around the entire foundation of your home. If a forecast of rain is coming, that's what you need. If not then take your garden hose and soak the ground a little. You want the pellet to soak into the ground where these bugs and ants live.
By the next day you will see a big difference in and out around your home.
Good Luck

What kind of ants do you have? Are they the tiny kind, or are they the bigger carpenter ants?
If they're the small kind, you can combine ~4 teaspoons of boric acid powder with some hot water until dissolved, then add 1/4 cup sugar and mix together with enough water (about a cup) until it is a runny syrup. You may have to boil it briefly to get everything to dissolve. Then, pour this mixture into shallow containers (small yogurt container tops or Snapple caps work well for this), and place them where you've seen ants. You may see ants SWARM over this stuff. I sure did! But even though it seems incredibly nasty and gross, you must NOT kill them. They'll take the poison back to their nests, feed it to their young and each other, and it will kill them all off.
You can supplement this technique by buying standard ant traps, but I had little success with these or other techniques, until I tried the boric acid mixture. IT WORKS!! You can buy boric acid at drug stores or as "borateen" in the laundry section, I think.
If they're carpenter ants, then the boric acid technique won't work well. You'll need a carpenter ant gel instead. You can buy this on the internet, but it will probably be expensive. Instead, head down to your local Home Depot and purchase a carpenter ant killing gel with the active ingredient of Fipronil. Spread this gel where you see the ants, and you should notice fewer in a couple of days.
With carpenter ants, however, it can be tricky. You may have to locate the nest if you want to avoid damage to your home.
Hope that this is helpful! Good luck killing the little creeps.

Grant's Kills Ants. They are stakes that go indoor and outdoor and have a sucrose (sugar) attractant which baits ant into taking it back to the colony. Kills them in 1-2 days. Amdro Ant Block can also be used around your house. It is a bait. Kills in 2-3 days.

Terro works great. It is a liquid that you put out for the ants to eat. After a a day of having it out, you will see 100s of ants feeding off of it. Don't kill them! You will think you are running a ant buffet but after a week, you won't have any customers.
That will kill all the ants you have but I would spray your foundation to prevent future infestation. I do my foundation twice a year.

you can do one or two things: at the local home depot they have boric acid in a bottle (powder form) just line the entry of where you see them with it and they will turn around in their tracks. Next this is weird but it works, basil leaves....somehow ants will not travel across or near basil leaves...sprinkle that across and they should disappear.

You go to visit with them, and politely ask them to leave. If that does not work I'm sure you can take up an appeal with the queen ant. But ohh the paper work LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!
