It may very well be time for them to come out of the closet. I think most of it is fear and dislike of anything different. It's not just gay people...it's people with different religious views, political views, etc. The bad thing about people who think that their way is the only way, is that most of them will never realize how blind they are. But hasn't this always been a touchy subject?
The web says:When the term is applied to political or religious opposition to specific sexual acts or political positions, it has been criticized as a pejorative, loaded term intended to discredit or silence opposition to any of the political or social issues connected with homosexuality. Critics of the term have often alleged that it creates a climate of intimidation by demonizing one side of the debate.
Negative feelings towards homosexuals are associated with other discriminatory behaviors. One study of white adolescent males conducted at the University of Cincinnati by Janet Baker claims to have found that hatred of homosexuals and racism are "likely companions" suggesting it is an abuse of power.

It's hard to explain why some of these people on here say such hateful stuff. I'm sure many of them are just products of the way they were raised. Some are just wanting attention, so they try to get people pissed by asking obnoxious questions, or giving an obnoxious answer. And then some are just down right hateful and stupid. But I really think that anybody who goes through life hating someone because they are gay, or their a different race, whatever, they have to be really miserable people. It takes a lot of energy to hate someone, so they must be drained from hating a whole society of people!
I don't know what your beliefs are on God, and whatever they are, that is totally your business, and nobody else. But what I'm getting at is that I hope you don't think that all Christians, or people that believe in God for that matter, think the way many of the people that claim to be good Christians, yet judges everyone else. My husband and I just keep our kids away from church, because church goers are usually the biggest gossips of all! There are so many phonies out there, and I don't want to expose my kids to that. We'll teach them about God at home, and then we don't have to worry about someone trying to teach them to hate others.
I know it's hard, but just realize these people that are such haters, are simply not worth getting irritated over. They're very sad individuals that need help.

I have seen just as much hatred form the GBLT community twards others. Even more if I really thought about it. The gays in here will attack someone just fr asking a question, even a perefctly ligitimate question.
The GBLT community sucks and I am at times ashamed to be a part of it. Most of the people that answer questions in here lash out and sound like utter and complete morons.
This could be one reason that so many people hate gays. I have been treated with more disrespect form the GBLT community just for asking questions than I can even speak of.
For people that want and want and want they sure treat the ones they want from like cray.
We want understanding.
We want respect.
We want laws for us.
We want want want but we can never give.
We don't show respect so we don't get any back.
Start treating people with respect and they will treat you with respect.

That is exactly what time it is, I have been asking myself the same question, why do they STAY in this section, some even use another name to ask questions about sex and relationships between Gay and Lesbian, then get right back on and bash them. I do believe they are just scared to come out, they have no one to ask, or talk to about their feelings, because they are afraid to let anyone know. I know I was at first, and I was one of those people saying "I wish a Lesbian would hit on me!" when I was really thinking "Oh God I wish a lesbian would hit on me, talk to me, look at me, kiss me..." and then Some people are just hateful, we let them get to us sometimes, but someone on here made a good point, ignore them, don't reply and stoop to their level, I will admit I snapped a few times, but now I will be the Bigger person and not even respond.

I find it interesting that some of the folks who hate gays post regularly to the Gay & Lesbian section of Yahoo Answers.
Same thing happens in the women's section. There are a few obviously misogynistic guys who regularly post there.
And, I'm sure you've read plenty of racist questions/remarks in the Other-Cultures section.
I often wonder if these people are so openly hateful when they aren't wearing the "white hood" of internet anonymity.

As we make progress towards equality, those on the far right who think they are protecting something, God knows what, see their advantage slipping away.
We have gained most of our recognition as equal human beings by communicating with others. The haters come here to discourage us from communicating further. That's why.

Many prejudiced people are obsessed with gay sex. It's all they can think about when someone says the word gay, lesbian or homosexual. I find that a bit strange. I don't think that the gay community does the same with them. So, who would you say is obsessed with sex?

amen to that!
i think a lot of them come in here because, in their tiny, hate-filled minds, it makes them feel superior somehow to pass judgment on others.
or saying something worse, like the pitiful piece of trash, burninglegion who has been reported yet again....
they just have nothing better to do!

People can be neurotic and like to stir up trouble. They are insecure with their own selves, so they like to pick on other people.
Reported BURNINGLEGION for his inappropriate response. Grow up, little boy!
