If they are competitive in just one area, like a career or a sport, then no.
If they are competitive in all ways with everybody everywhere everytime, then yes.

Do you mean the overly-competitive person, like the one that you can't even have a conversation with because they're always coming up with something to top what you just said? I say yes, and that's a good observation. I can't stand that kind of person.

I'm sure--look at Napoleon. He was made fun of in school for being a Corsican, which couldn't have helped his self image. But he made sure he conquered most of Europe. I'm sure a lot of it was compensation, and a way to show others "See, I'm better than you thought!"
