Just ask them politely, as in "Could you please not continue sending..."

It is only if they refuse a polite request that you have to consider an impolite one.

You mean things like jokes and chain letters and such? Maybe,"I love hearing from you - could you please mark your personal e-mails so I can separate them from your forwards? Those are the ones I really love to read." That way, they know you like to correspond with them, but you're giving them a graceful way to stop forwarding you stuff.

I usually just delete and they eventually get the message, but not everyone takes a hint very well. You might also tell them your spam filter is set to exclude forwards ...

Yes. Blame it on the pc.
Please do not forward these emails to me anymore. I am having trouble viewing them. It is taking a long to open them and then my pc freezes. After that I have to run my spyware remover to clean up the damage and that takes a really long time. From now on, I am not opening any of those. Thanks for understanding.

"Lincoln was a well known" no longer something Bush 2 and the entertainment of the Presidents have accomplished or suggested. i could stop all Federal money to any State with a conservative Republican Governor or conservative Senators, they might desire to shrink decrease back the Deficit by making use of removing funds from our government, SO BE IT... furnish THEM THEIR SMALLER government.

just ask them...but it may also be that they have a virus on their computer that automatically sends spam emails to everyone on their email list...in that case, they probably dont even know theyre sending them.

Do you have to be polite to a friend?
After my sarcastic "Wow, the internet is amazing, what would we do without it" failed to translate, I just told my friend to "stop sending me crap".

I don't know that there's a way. I have asked countless times - and yet it still happens. The worst offender is my mother (thank God her laptop recently died)!

Ask them straight out and if they don't stop, block them. Or send them back to their address.
