Yeast infections can be caused my many things, but not wearing underwear is not one of them. In fact, not wearing underwear would reduce your risk of getting one.
The yeast is always there, at balance with a bacteria which keeps it in check. If the yeast production is increased, the balance is lost and a yeast infection occurs.
Things that can upset this balance are:
Antibiotics, steroids, and birth control pills.
Hormonal changes during pregnancy and prior to menstruation.
Frequent exposure to semen.
Cleansing products, such as soaps and douches often do more harm than good, causing yeast infections.
Wearing tight underwear and jeans.
The looser your clothing is, the better off you are. Most women get a yeast infection at some point in their lives. You can buy chemical treatments for it, or use a home remedy (found on the site listed as my source) - home remedies are often more effective than chemical ones and much cheaper. If you don't treat it at all, it will go away on its own with a little time.

You are no more likely to get a yeast from not wearing undies than if you do wear them.
The primary causes of yeast infections are moisture and pH imbalance, either of which can cause the fungal infection.
Actually, I've heard a arguements that not wearing panties can prevent yeast infections.

Just going commando won't give you a yeast infection (I go w/o undies ALL the time)...however this time of year, if your clothing (esp pants/shorts) gets damp or sweaty in the crotch area and stays that way a long time, it might cause you a problem...I ride motorcycles and wear jeans, this time of year I'll get off the bike (when I'm commando) and it looks like I pee'd myself because it's hot out and the leather bike seat makes me sweat...no itchy/yeast issues though, but as soon as the ride is over I get out of my damp pants and clean/dry myself off down there.
Commando is preferable to me, to undies that show or won't stay where they should...
Go commando with confidence...just keep dry/clean in mind...

Not necessarily.
The most common reasons: not dyring off properly, not cleaning yourself well after intercourse, not cleaning yourself well, wearing dirty underwear etc.
Of course if you don't wear underwear, you're more vulnerable to having something unclean enter your private area. Also: doctor's recommend cotton underwear/clothing to help prevent yeast infections.

No. It is an imbalance of good and bad bacteria. You can get it from excessive cleaning with over the counter, home developed and prescription products. It is the killing of the good bacteria that causes the problem. You can also get it from someone else if they have it.

Yes. If you are wearing dirty pants or shorts, you can get bacteria in there that will aggrivate the natural yeasts that your vagina contains.

No but it is a poor idea not to cover your genitals to prevent dirt from entering and discharges soiling clothing.
