I think in the case of blood you have to get it out right away or its difficult to remove at all. The oxyclean products probably will work the best on blood. Don't lose hope.

vanish oxy action. you've seen the ad on telly. the lady goes in to a circus and there's all the clowns and things and she make the clown suits all nice a clean. if it can get custard pie out I'm sure it'll get blood out.

I found the best thing to remove blood is salt water, but it doesnt usually work once its dry.
