English is full of exceptions to spelling and pronunciation rules. Why is Phlegm pronounced "Flem"?

Because if you annuciate it it sounds like colon-elle... It actually sounds like it's pronounced in a southern dialect... much more sophisticated and bonafide, no?

Good question! You should go ask it in the education catagory. I would love to see all the teachers answers. I don't think anyone in polls would know this. lol
