Snap-On and Craftsman are my two favorites. You can get Craftsman at sears, if you have a mechanic friend you can have them buy Snap-On tools for you, I forget where I've seen them in-store.

To the guy below me, I've never had a problem with Sears backing up craftsman, and neither has my dad. He's been a mechanic by hobby and formerly by trade for some 30 years. Perhaps it's the particurlar store you were going to?

Go to Home Depot and pick up some Husky tools. Sears doesn't back up Craftsman the way they used to. I use a lot of Mac and Matcos, but you will spend 2-3 times as much for them and you have to chase down the truck if you aren't in a shop. For home use the Huskys are actually pretty nice tools.

By far Snap-On. The sockets & wrenches grip better then Craftsman or Husky. Yes they are expensive but when they wear out or break they replace them for free.

Snapon are considered the best, but they are way overpriced.
