look for a printer that has print heads seperate from the inkcartridges and seperate cartridges for each color of ink. the printer will have a higher upfront cost but you pay alot for print heads, which only wear out every 1-2 years and if the ink cartridges have multiple colors you throw away a large amount of ink whenever only 1 color runs out. if the print heads come attached to the ink crtridge you will be replacing parts that are not worn out far to often.

One I can tell you not to by is Epson. The printer cloggs and when you take the cartrage out to clean it is will automatically reduce the amount of ink it says in the cartridge and when it says the ink is gone even though it is not it will not print until you buy a new cartridge amd they are very expensive.
