My bf has trouble waking up in the middle of the night to goto the bathroom. It's almost as if his body doesn't get the signal out in time. We are currently setting our alarm so that he can get up & go. Does anyone have any other ideas on how we can better control this? Only serious & respectful answers please as this is a touchy subject for both of us. We recently moved & are having a hard time finding dr.s in this area. We are hoping this isn't a medical problem, any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

The fact is, it is a medical problem. Like you stated yourself that his body does not recognize the signaling that he needs to go.
This is what I would do first.
1. Behavior control.. Stop drinking liquids at least 2-3 hours before bedtime. Try to go to the bathroom before you go to bed. Then again when you get up in the morning, go as soon as your feet touch the floor. You shouldn't have to be going more often than that. If you do, it could be a sign of diabetes, bladder, or neurogenic problems. Please check your sugar to see if you are excessively going the bathroom because you are drinking more than you rusual.
I would find either a urologist, or a family doc to eval you for diabetes, neuro injury, etc.. if behavior modification does not work....

No Soda after like 7pm and limit beverages at all during that time. maybe a glass of water or something. its mainly psychological. i used to have that same problem for a long time. (until about 14) and i grew out of it. Also when you find a DOC there are drugs that then can prescribe.

maybe passing urine before going to bed, behavior therapy by constantly reminding him that he has to go to bathroom when he feels so at night might solve your problem
but a check up by a doctor is needed
