It needs a 16-team playoff, with a seeding system based heavily on strength of schedule. I'm getting tired of seeing Florida vs. Central Upper Nebraska Tech and Virginia Tech vs. Sandusky Heights Institute of Technology games every September.

Yes, because even though teams maybe be ranked one or two, doesn't mean they can beat every other team. I, being an ohio state fan, think that there should be a bracket system because ohio state probably couldve played in the championship game because of how far troy smith has come in the past season. the two losses that ohio state had (texas and penn state) only happened because troy smith wasn't as matured as he is now. also, in the texas game, troy smith and justin zwick alternated at the quarterback position. if troy smith had played all that game, he wouldve matured faster and ohio state wouldnt have lost to penn state.
but anyways, yes, i do think NCAa football should have a postseason like the NFL (with the bracket system and the "seed"ing system, like the Steelers were the 5th seed in the playoffs, thats what i mean by "seed"ing system).
but just like everyone else has said, its not gonna happen because there are too many teams and polls. if it comes down to just the BCS poll that counts (with the top 32 instead of 25, since 32 is an even number), then a 32 team-playoff would be better than it is now

Yeah but it'll never happen. Too many teams, conferences, it would be a mess. I would like to see the regular season cut down to 10 games instead of 11 and have a play-off system "SIMILAR" to the NCAA basketball system they have. A field of the 32 top teams in the country and not the top 25 cause 32 is an even number and have a winner play on system. Again, it'll never happen since you have 2 top 25 lists that are similar to each other but voted on by different people unless the NCAA decided to just have 1 list to go on and extend it to 32 to fomulate a playoff system. Also start the season earlier in order to fit the games in OR cut the field from 32 to 16 and then have the playoffs. It could be done but won't until you get the right people in the right places to make such decisions.

College Football, i.e. NCAA, should move away from the BCS format and have playoffs and one national championship game. All other divisions in college football do it. The problem is, the big conference executives who make their schools big bucks from all the TV and promotional deals, would never go for it...they're an 'ol boys club that don't really care what the fans want.

Absolutely. Better yet, model it after the NCAA basketball tourney, just with 32 teams instead of 64.
Or, 24 teams and give the top 8 a first round bye.
There is no excuse for bowing to the mighty dollar instead of implementing the same fair and equitable system used by every other college sport (D1 - DIII), INCLUDING FOOTBALL ITSELF in DI-AA, D2, and D3.
And I don't want to hear any B.S. on how colleges are strapped for money. Ever seen a tuition bill lately???

Definitely. There's always that one team that goes undefeated but has a "weak" schedule, which takes away from their ranking. Any team in any conference should have a chance to make the playoffs, and I can never figure out which bowl game is the championship game, since it changes every year. They should make one bowl be the automatic championship bowl, so that way it is less confusing.

I'd love to see a playoff format representing all conference champions and one or more wild cards. I've conceived of a way to incorporate the higher-tier bowls into such a system. I still have some hope that some kind of playoff (probably not my idea) will happen before I die. Some hope, but not much.

I'm in favor of a 64 team playoff system like high school or a 32 team system like D1AA, D2, and D3.
But in reality it won't happen. Too many companies make money off of individual bowl games. And smaller schools like Mountain West schools make money off of their bowl games that they wouldn't if they had no bowls. And they never get a chance in BCS games so...a playoff system might help them but could hurt their pockets...in terms of gettin more money

Yeah I think they should. I've always been a big NFL fan, but could never really get into college football. The post season may be part of the reason why.

There's gotta be! But, how do you pick those 6, 8 or 10 teams that play in it? Maybe conference champs, if you can't win your conference, how can you win the national championship?
