If all you need is black and white text, I would go with some sort of inexpensive laser printer, this one should be perfect for you, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16828113160 and it's fairly inexpensive at $85 after rebates. I do not own that model, I own this Samsung, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16828112035 for $100 and I absolutely love it.

Sure, there are $50 inkjet printers but the cartridges will cost you $35 to $40. You won't have to replace the toner in a Laser printer very often and they will cost you between $40 and $60, this is far more economical than your typical inkjet. Plus laser printers are so much faster.

You know how things work. They sell printers very cheap especially when on SALE. For a little bit over 50 dollars you get a brand new printer complete with cartridge or toner. Then when it is time to buy a replacement toner, you find that they sell for more that what you paid for the printer. So what you do is buy a new printer and donate the old one and claim for tax deduction. BUY a laser printer if you are into black and white printing only.
