I just want to know who in their right mind would let that sick woman Andrea Yates plead insanity? She planned that out to a tee, those poor kids and the 6 month old what the he!!? Does anyone else think she is a cold blooded killer or truly just insane like they say?

This is a rough topic.

Many times she tried to go to the child welfare people to get the kids taken away. She told them that she was going to hurt the kids & they never did anything about it.

I think she was mentally "off". But in my mind, I cannot imagine that a second didn't go by that she didn't think to just walk away. When the kids were crying & begging for their mommy to stop, are you telling me she was incapable of walking out of that house? If I hated my neighbor but she came to me & told me she was going to kill her kids, I would take them in an instant. As a mother, you have sense. Period. There is no reason she couldn't take a second to comprehend that she was murdering her kids. I can't believe that. I am a parent & no matter how frustrated I would get, I would walk before I stuck their heads under water.

I guess I just cant understand. Lets talk about the *bleeping* father who was just like "Oh yeah she was sick," & never once showed a single emotion or regret, remorse, nothing. I blame him more than her. It was HIS responsibility too to protect those kids. If he knew she was sick & he said he did, he should've taken the kids where they would be safe. Did you know he is already remarried? Maybe if he would've let her out of the house to sociallize she would've had a friend she could turn to at the moment of crisis.

I blame the father mostly, child services for not intervening when she went to them for help, and her. There was no right here except for those poor kids. God bless them.

Even though she planned out the murder, she, at least by any definition I know, certifiable. But being crazy does not excuse "crazy" behavior. We put away sexual "deviants" and they do not get away with being "crazy," although the certainly are.

In the case of deviants, most doctors say that the condition is incurable. I think in these cases, the "criminal" should be put in a prison for the criminally insane. If they become sane at any time during their residence in that institution, they should be remanded to a "regular" prison and finish any time normally given for the crime. Thereby being unable to escape justice by pleading insanity. What I suggest is perhaps cruel and unusual punishment and may, in fact, be unconstitutional. However, I know no other way of handling such a situation. Sick people need help, but part of getting well is taking responsibility for your actions, even if committed while you were "sick." So, in my mind, anyway, folks who are "sick" should do their time when they become well.

it's our legel system, so what are you gonna do? she's still getting locked up. and, with all those crazies, it maybe worse than prison.
